The scientific-methodological and methodical bases for the constructive geographical study of mining territories in the Western region of Ukraine for the purpose of practical implementation of measures directed to the improvement of a condition of mining geosystems have been developed. The concept, approaches and algorithms for the landscape analysis of environmental problems of mining territories and objects have been justified. The concept of «mining geosystem» has been formulated, the morphological landscape and regional units have been determined and the boundaries of these geosystems have been outlined. The methods for geoecological study of mining territories, the use of cartographic and geoinformation methods have been substantiated. The peculiarities of organization of the landscape and technogenic systems in the areas of mineral production and benefication have been analyzed. The classification of mining and post-mining geosystems has been expanded and specified. The mechanisms of functioning, dynamics and development of mining geosystems, in particular the peculiarities of their emergence, formation and disappearance have been studied. The regularities of development of hazardous natural and anthropogenic processes within the mining territories have been revealed. The constructive geographical bases for optimization of mining geo-systems as a set of measures directed to the reclamation and increase in their productivity, economic, environmental and esthetic significance, to the optimum reconstruction and planning of adjacent geo-systems have been formed. The areas of implementation of optimization measures for ensuring the effective performance of production functions (agricultural or silvicultural), formation of recreational and environmental objects, revalorization of historical landmarks, etc. have been defined.
For geographers, geologists, ecologists, land surveyors, experts in mining, state management, and monitoring as well as for a wide range of readers.
