NEW CHAIRMAN OF THE STATE COMMISSION OF UKRAINE ON MINERAL RESOURCES HAS BEEN APPOINTED

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine appointed Sergii Paiuk the Chairman of the State Commission of Ukraine on Mineral Resources. The Government’s relevant decision was published on the official website on June 6, 2022.

Thus, the previous Chairman of the SCMR Heorhii Rudko was dismissed at his own request by the Order № 447-p dated 03.06.2022. Instead, Sergii Paiuk was appointed the Chairman of the SCMR by the Order № 449-p dated 03.06.2022.

Following the Order, the Head of the State Geology and Subsoil Service of Ukraine Roman Opimakh introduced the new Chairman to the SCMR staff and expressed gratitude to Heorhii Rudko for many years of fruitful work as the Chairman.

Sergii Paiuk is a real professional in the field of geology. He graduated from Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas, has completed an internship in the United States under the SABIT program, and studied at the Kyiv School of Economics (KSE) under the MBA program. He has considerable work experience in domestic mining companies and cooperation with international organizations in the field of subsoil use and resource base assessment of the deposits, particularly, until 2020, he headed the Department of Geology at JSC “Ukrgasvydobuvannya”. In March 2020, he was appointed the First Deputy Chairman of the Board of JSC “Nadra Ukrainy”.

“The primary objectives of Sergii Paiuk as Chairman of the State Commission of Ukraine on Mineral Resources are the implementation of international mineral accounting systems for the assessment of reserves and resources, digitalization, and promotion of the Commission’s status in global professional circles,” said Roman Opimakh. “The State Geology and Subsoil Service of Ukraine is steadily moving towards the adaptation of the best international standards in the field of subsoil use. An important step was the application of the PRMS system for the assessment of hydrocarbon reserves and resources. The next step could be the development of the methodology for the application of CRIRSCO solid mineral reserves reporting standards. In Ukraine, these approaches will facilitate an increase of international investments, an increase of mineral extraction and a reduction of dependence on imports”.
